2nd ODI between India and England at Bristol

Written on August 23, 2007 – 5:13 pm | by admin Latest Update: India have put 330 runs target for England, in reply of that England have made 220runs for loss of six wickets in 38 overs. After a devastating performance on the first one day international, a lot is expected from Team India. With a lead of 1-0 in the series, England will surely be in the best of its spirits. The first one day as we all know ended in England’s favor at the Rose Bowl by 104 runs. 2nd ODI between India and England at Bristol England displayed the best of its cricketing skills in the first one day and on the other hand, Team India, as always suffered due to poor fielding and consequently inappropriate batting. Yet again, the top order batsmen seemed to ditch the team against amateur bowling by England newcomers excluding Andre Flintoff. A lot has to be improved by India when it comes to fielding. As far as the team selection is concerned, Indians cannot afford to lose out on Munaf Patel who has proved to be the most economic bowlers of the recent times. Ramesh Powar could also be replaced by Piyush Chawla. Coming to the batting order, India can bring in Gautam Gambhir as an opener and save an experienced player for the third spot. Its important to keep the strike rotating within the team with a certain amount of stability. If you happen to look at the other countries, they usually send their best batsmen at the number 3 position, for an instance, Ricky Ponting always bats in at number 3 from Australia, so does Jacques Kallis from South Africa. It would suggestive for the Indian side to come out on the field with 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers to combat against the English for the second one day. The England team will be pretty much the same as the one in the last match; unfortunately, we won’t be able to see the performance of Sidebottom as he has been ruled out for more than 2 one day internationals. The ground is fairly less in size but holds good records for high scores. But the ground of Bristol has been fortunate for Sachin Tendulkar as he has been able to perform at his fullest here. A lot of Indian players are suffering from Flu and body aches. Thence they happened to miss the practice session. However, we hope to see India bouncing back at the second one day international. All eyes await the match at Bristol. Check out our reviews and live match scores. We have also assembled Live Score Card for 2nd ODI between India and England at Bristol.
